Real Madrid takes a giant step to win the League and Barça
The victory of Real Madrid against Sevilla puts the Andalusians in trouble while strengthening the leader in the lead.
Real Madrid started the thirty-second day of the league with the lead tied and almost sentenced with an epic comeback to beat Sevilla in one of the duels of the day.
The culés, who fell with a crash in Europe against Eintracht, faced each other with Cádiz and had a monumental stumble and could not redeem themselves. Atleti, meanwhile, added three points and established themselves in the Champions League positions.
Real Sociedad 0 - 0 Betis
Real Sociedad failed to beat Betis at the Reale Arena. The turn-urdin team was unable to transform the chances they had in the first half, especially in Isak's boots, to capture their dominance on the pitch.
In the second half, the Verdiblanco team grew throughout the forty-five minutes and had opportunities to get ahead. Fekir had the best for Betis and Real did not find clarity in forwarding positions to win the match, it ended goallessly.
Elche 3 - 0 Majorca
Elche has taken a giant step in its aspirations to achieve permanence in the First Division after beating Mallorca (3-0), which it condemns to suffer on the brink of the relegation zone.
Mojica's goal, in the first half, and those scored by Bigas and Kang In Lee, this one an own goal, after the break, reflected the superiority of the team from Elche, which breaks its bad dynamics, against a rival that only went to for the match when I had it all lost.
Alaves 1 - 0 Lightning
Joselu Mato revived Deportivo Alavés with a goal that gave the team from Vitoria a 1-0 victory over Rayo Vallecano and brought the Albiazules closer to salvation.
The Galician striker connected a shot from outside the area in the 64th minute that Dimitrievski failed to clear and the Basque team won again more than two months later.
Valencia 1-2 Osasuna
Osasuna beat Valencia (1-2) at Mestalla this Saturday with all goals in the second half, in a duel without quality between two teams more focused on annulling the rival than looking for the opposite goal and that the Navarrese took advantage of to snatch the ninth place in the classification to the Valencianists.
A penalty three minutes into the second half at the hands of Foulquier allowed Osasuna to open the scoring through the Argentinian Chimy Ávila, while in the 75th minute Darko Bresanac, just entering the field, scored the second away goal, which he left against the ropes to a Valencia without ideas in attack.
A penalty goal from Carlos Soler in the 82nd minute put Valencia in the game and although in the final stretch of the match they looked hard for a draw, they lacked luck against an Osasuna that defended well and took the three points from Mestalla.
Getafe 1 - 2 Villarreal
Villarreal won (1-2) against Getafe, at the Alfonso Pérez Coliseum, in the match corresponding to matchday 32 of the Santander League, in which they suffered in the final minutes to maintain the result.
The Castellón team went ahead after seven minutes thanks to Gerard Moreno, assistant after the second goal, the work of Manu Trigueros.
Midway through the second half, Getafe closed the gap through the Turkish player Enes Unal. With this result, Villarreal remains seventh in the standings with 49 points, six from sixth place, and Getafe remains with 32, only four from relegation.
Granada 1 - 4 Raise
Levante remains alive in its fight to achieve permanence in LaLiga Santander by beating Granada 1-4 this Sunday, which still does not win in 2022 at its stadium and is increasingly closer to the relegation places.
José Luis Morales led a Levante that was superior to Granada, especially in the first half, with a penalty and two assists, to Dani Gómez and the Frenchman Mickael Malta in the other two goals, and also forcing the expulsion for a double yellow card in the 55th minute for the local Germán Sánchez.
Álex Collado's honorable goal in the 90th minute allowed Granada to win the average against Levante after 0-3 in the first round, although Roberto Soldier equalized it in the 94th minute with the goal that closed the game.
Atletico 2 - 1 Espanyol
A penalty goal by Yannick Carrasco in the last minute of added time by Raúl de Tomás gave Atlético de Madrid the 2-1 victory against Espanyol, with which they distance themselves by three points from their pursuers for the positions of Champions League, Betis, and Real Sociedad.
In the last minute of added time, De Tomás touched the ball with his hand when clearing a corner kick and referee Figueroa Vázquez signaled the maximum penalty after reviewing it in the video arbitration. Carrasco scored the shot, converting his second goal of the match and transforming the tie, precisely scored by De Tomás, into a mattress victory.
Athletic 0-2 Celtic
Celta, with goals from Iago Aspas and Fran Beltrán in the first half, beat Athletic Club 0-2 at San Mamés, a scoreboard that practically sealed the permanence of the team from Vigo and extinguished the European dream of the rojiblanco team.
Aspas put Celta ahead in the eleventh minute taking advantage of a pass from Brais Méndéz after a good collective action by the sky-blue attack and Fran Beltrán achieved the final 0-2 in the 37th minute with a great right foot from about 25 meters that surprised Unai Simón.
Seville 2-3 Real Madrid
In the second half, Real Madrid came back from a match that they had lost 2-0 at half-time and that left them at 2-3 with the last goal from their great savior, the Frenchman Karim Benzema, who achieved it in the 92nd minute, which leaves the team caressing the LaLiga title and Sevilla, with their first defeat at home so far in the championship, in a tough fight to stay in the 'Champions' positions.
The Sevilla team, for whom Rakitic and Lamela scored, was much better in the first half and hence the result, while the Madridistas beat their rival in the second and scored those three goals that could be worth a title after a match that was also was surrounded by arbitration controversy, with a possible expulsion in the first half that did not come from the visitor Eduardo Camavinga and also with a goal disallowed by Vinícius Júnior with the score 2-1 in the 74th minute. Rodrygo, Nacho, and Benzema turned the game around for the Whites.
A goal from Lucas Pérez in the 48th minute, who only had to push the ball at will to make it 0-1 after Marc-André Ter Stegen rejected two consecutive shots from Rubén Sobrino in the small area, gave the victory to Cádiz against Barça at the Camp Nou.
The best scoring chance for the Blaugrana team came through Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who volleyed in the 89th minute and forced Jeremías Ledesma to shine to prevent the tie. For their part, Cádiz would have been able to widen the gap thanks to Álex Fernández, who, coming from behind, finished off slightly wide in the 75th minute.
Barça resigns from the League: bump against Cádiz at the Camp Nou
- Those of Xavi could not redeem themselves from their European elimination.
Barça presented its resignation to fight for the League with an unexpected defeat against Cádiz (0-1) that leaves it 15 points behind the leadership – with one game less – and the feeling of having let the train pass to continue putting pressure on the Real Madrid. The serious match of the Cadiz short-circuited the azulgranas, who orphaned by Pedri were unable to score a single goal. Lucas Pérez's goal punished the bad game of Xavi's men.
The azulgranas took to the field as if there wasn't much at stake, as if the Madrid victory the day before had ended their hopes of continuing to fight for the League. Only Dembélé was capable of creating danger against a Cádiz well planted in the field, defending with order and even daring to have the ball in some sections, warning with a couple of dangerous arrivals to the culé area.
Barça took control midway through the first half, but without ideas, clinging only to Dembélé's genius in his constant one-on-one against Espino, always supported by several teammates. A high shot from Alba was the meager baggage in an insipid first hour and poor play by Xavi's men.
Cádiz was waiting for its opportunity and it had it. Wow, did he have it? Rubén Sobrino beat the back of the local defense on the right and Lucas Pérez found his death pass. The Galician, only despite Dest's pressure coming from behind, failed the inexplicable.
The answer was, of course, from Dembélé. A slalom of his left two rivals behind and his shot, low, was met by a great hand from Ledesma.
The second half began with a good play by Depay, but the one who struck was Cádiz. A ball hung by Álex Fernández was enough to create panic in the Blaugrana area. Sobrino finished twice from point-blank range, and Ter Stegen performed two miracles, but on the third Lucas Pérez did not forgive.
Barça tried it with more desire than football, again with Dembélé at the helm, but the clearest was from Cadiz. Alejo won the right-wing, a freeway all night, and Álex Fernández, alone, finished off close to the post.
Xavi Hernández activated his plan B, with Adama Traoré and Luuk de Jong on the field. His intentions were clear and it didn't take long for the Dutchman to warn with a trademark header that Ledesma struggled to save.
Since then, he was a Blaugrana love and I can't. He tried it down the right-wing with Adama's insistence, but without success, and a great shot by Eric García was the best chance, but he ran into the unorthodox goalkeeper Ledesma again. Cádiz endured and took a well-deserved victory at the Camp Nou that distances Barça from the fight for the League.
