THE FOXHOUND DOG.
Foxhounds were the very first canine breeds in Britain to come
To manage:-
A little broad, not pointed like the Bloodhound, but long from apex to frontal bones, very prominent eyebrows, well-cut cheeks from eye to nostril, ears set low and in their natural state slim and shapely, but not tall, large nose, strong and level jaw, and small baleen, fierce expression, and with often repulsive best.
The eyes:-
Very bright and deeply grounded, full of determination and with a very stable expression. The look of the Foxhound is very remarkable.
The neck must be perfectly clean, without any folds of skin. The length of the neck is important, both to bend down and to look majestic.
Shoulders:-
The blades should be set deep in the back and should be angled, if not wide and strong, to join the arms, which should be long and strong.
Legs and feet:-
The bone should be perfectly straight from the arm down and down in the same degree of height to the ankles. The knee should be nearly flat and level; there should be no curve until you get to the toes, which should be very strong, round, cat-like, and each toe well defined so to speak.
Coat:-
The coat is hard but short and smooth, the texture is as stiff as hair but beautifully laid.
Color:-
Belvoir tan, which is brown and black, perfectly blended, with white markings of various shapes and sizes. The white should be very opaque and clear. Black and white, with tan markings on head and stifles. Badger's foot is a kind of gray and white. Lemon foot, light yellow and white. Pied hare, darker yellow and white.
